Privacy policy
This page explains what this website collects, what it deliberately does not collect, what the violation checker and the call log do with what you type (they send nothing to us), and how to have your information removed. If you would rather not put anything in writing, call us instead.

This policy was last updated on September 25, 2026.
This site is published by Usher Law Group, P.C., 1600 Sheepshead Bay Rd, Suite 203, Brooklyn, NY 11235. You can reach us at (718) 484-7510 or info@usherlegal.com.
People come to this site about debts, credit reports and collection calls, which means account numbers, balances and personal finances. So this policy is written plainly, and the short version is this: the violation checker and the call log send nothing to us, the call log is kept on your device only if you ask it to be, we collect the minimum we need to call you back, we never ask for an account number, a card number or a Social Security number on this website, and you can have your information deleted by sending one email.
The violation checker
The violation checker runs entirely in your browser. The page downloads the rule table along with the rest of the page, and everything after that, every box you tick and every date you enter, is worked out on your own device. Nothing you enter is sent to us or to anyone else, and nothing is stored: not on our server, not in a cookie, not in your browser's local storage. Reloading the page clears it. Closing the tab clears it.
The "Copy my results" button only copies text to your clipboard, so that you can paste it into an email, a note, or the box on our case review form if you choose to. It does not transmit anything.
The call log
The call log also runs entirely in your browser. The calls you add, the times, the collector's name or number and your notes are worked out on your device, and the call log never sends any of it to us or to anyone else.
- By default, nothing is kept. Your entries last only while the page is open. Reloading the page or closing the tab clears them.
- If you tick "Keep my log on this device", the log is saved in
your browser's local storage on that device, under the name
mfd-call-log-v1, so it is still there when you come back. It stays on that device and in that browser. It is not sent to us. - To delete it, press "Clear the log", or untick "Keep my log on this device", which removes the saved copy. Clearing this site's data in your browser settings also deletes it. Anyone who uses the same browser on the same device can see a kept log, so on a shared or work computer, leave the box unticked.
- Download and Print create a spreadsheet file or a printout on your own device. Where that file goes after that is up to you.
The letter builder
The letter builder writes the letter on your device from what you type. It sends nothing to us and stores nothing. Copy, Download and Print put the letter on your clipboard, in a file on your device, or on paper.
Adding your results to a case review
If you press "Add these results to a free case review" in the violation checker, or "Add
my log to a free case review" in the call log, a text summary is placed in your browser's
session storage for that tab (under the name mfd-intake) and copied into the
"What happened" box of the case review form when it opens. The summary is removed from
session storage as soon as the form reads it, and it disappears when you close the tab in
any case. It reaches us only if you press Send on the form, and you can edit or delete it
in the box before you do.
What the case review form collects
The case review form on this site asks for these things:
- Your name, or whatever name you want us to use
- A way to reach you: a phone number, and an email address if you want
- The language you want us to call you in
- What is happening: calls, threats, contact with family or an employer, a debt that is not yours, an old debt or a lawsuit, a credit report error, identity theft, a screening report, robocalls, or something else
- What kind of company is contacting you, and its name, if you know
- The state you live in
- The date of the most recent call, letter or report, so we can tell you how much time there is
- Whether you have been sued, and the date you were served
- A description in your own words, into which you may paste the results the violation checker copied for you
That is all. There is no field for a date of birth, a home address, a Social Security number, an account number, a card number or bank information. If you type something into the free-text box, we receive it, so type only what you are comfortable sending.
Keep account numbers out of the form
Do not type full account numbers, your Social Security number, or bank or card details into the form, ours or anyone else's. We do not need them to call you back. If you have been sued, tell us the date you were served and the court, and tell us the rest by phone or in person.
Where the form goes
When you press the send button, the form does not upload what you typed from this page. It opens your own email program with a message addressed to info@usherlegal.com, filled in with your answers. Nothing is sent until you press send in your email program, and the message then travels like any other email you send, through your email provider and ours. If your device has no email program set up, nothing is sent, and you can call us instead.
We use what you send to contact you, to run a conflict check, and to evaluate whether we can take the matter. If we do not take the matter, we keep the record only as long as our conflict-checking rules require and then delete it. If the form's delivery method changes, this section will be updated to describe the new method.
Form submissions are not privileged until you are a client
Attorney-client privilege protects communications with a lawyer who represents you. Sending a web form or an email does not make us your lawyers. Until we and you sign a written retainer agreement, what you send through this site is not a privileged communication. We still treat it as confidential as a matter of professional practice, and we do not share it with anyone outside the firm, but the legal protection of privilege begins with the retainer, not with the form.
What this site does not do
- It does not use analytics, advertising cookies or tracking pixels on any page.
- It does not sell, rent or share your information with marketers, lead generators, debt settlement companies or other law firms.
- It does not use chat widgets or session recording.
- Its fonts, photographs and videos are served from this site, not from a third-party service.
Like any website, the server that delivers these pages may keep standard access logs, such as the address of the device that requested a page and the time. What you type into the violation checker and the call log never reaches the server, so it is not in those logs.
The language selector
The language selector at the top of each page uses Google's translation service.
Nothing loads from Google until you open the language menu. When you open it, your
browser loads Google's translation script, and when you choose a language, the site
sets a cookie named googtrans in your browser to remember the choice, and
the page text is sent to Google to be translated. Google handles that under its own
privacy policy. We do not receive anything from it. If you would rather it never load,
leave the site in English. Choosing English again clears the cookie.
Your rights
You can ask us at any time what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email info@usherlegal.com with the name and phone number you used, and we will confirm in writing. If you are a current client, some records must be kept under the rules that govern lawyers, and we will tell you which. We cannot see or delete a call log kept on your device; only you can, using the steps above.
Children
This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18 through it. If a child's information has been used to open accounts or appears on a credit report, a parent or guardian should be the one who contacts us.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it, and the change is noted here. We do not change it quietly.
